Im sitting here at the vet hospital waiting for my girl.
We’re bringing her home, because they can't help her. We don't know how much time we have, but it will not be long enough. She doesn't deserve this.

Oh buddy....I am so sorry to hear. :(
Give her the best remaining time you can, no pet critters should have to go out that way...my condolences to you and your family...

I am so sorry for you. I'm sure that you have done everything you could. Cherish the time that you still have together, no matter how short.

This hurts.
Would’ve been December 2016...we took our buddy to an emergency vet clinic on a Sunday night because he was peeing in the house constantly, and in the latest batch there was some red. The vet took him back for an ultrasound, and came back a few minutes later with the sad news that they had found a massive bladder tumor. The vet told us we might have days, maybe weeks with him yet.
We took him home and hugged him tight. We got two more months with him before he finally looked tired and defeated. She made her peace with losing her first dog, and the whole family spent the last day with him.
This is the inevitable part that we all hate. I’m sorry you have to go through this, and I wish you strength.

I’m so sorry. Give her some extra hugs and treats for all of us- and make a few more fond memories.

I’m so very sorry to hear that.
I hope she’s not in any pain and you all make the best of the time you have left together.
Give her a very big hug from me.
Really sorry mate.

Thanks. No pain it seems, but can't keep food down. If we can get her to do that, we can buy some time

That's what we're hoping for

Damn it.. im upset now, and will be :(
It took me over 6 months to get over my chocolate lab Maggie. Had her for 13 years and she became blind and some kind of thyroid disorder and she basically had no muscles left, but she still happily eating til the silent end :’(

We're the opposite. She was strong, but too much inside her that shouldn't be that she can't even eat anymore. Took me on a two mile walk Saturday. Today they found an abdomen full of inoperable cancer. What the fuck

I’ve lost a number of dogs over the years. The hardest was my first lab whom I had to have put down after he developed heart issues and couldn’t even get up and walk any more. Make the best of the time remaining. Lots of hugs . Lots of love.

Thanks. This is the first dog I've had as an adult. She's still strong, but can't eat anymore. We're hoping to get a bit of stood in her at a time and keep her going for a few more adventures. She took me on a 2 mile walk Saturday. She still wants to go

If she can still drink, a hearty beef broth might help keep her energy up.

Fingers crossed she eats something mate.
Just do what your doing, being with her is the best thing right now.

I am sorry to hear that. Enjoy what time you have, and make her as comfortable as you can. My heart goes out to you, I lost my little buddy last year this month.

Try patte or whipped foods, that helped for a bit with similar issue.
![]() 02/11/2019 at 20:56 |
|
Shes on canned now, instead of solid. Too much cancer in the way of her stomach is the issue.

That was Wilbur’s too. Had to go from canned, to whipped stuff that came in a pouch, finally to whipped stuff made into thick soup with broth.

I’m sad for all of you. This is one of the hardest things in life. It must be even harder that it’s happening so shockingly abruptly. I hope you’re able to give her lots of love before she goes, and to make it as comfortable as possible for her.

We went for the longest walk we ever had together on Saturday. Took her to the emergency vet Sunday morning. They spent a day and a half trying to figure it out, and it's inoperable cancer. Pushing on her stomach so much she can't eat or keep food down. If we can get her to eat small meals, keep her energy up, she might be happy for a bit. That's the hope.

Very sorry to hear it... Make her last days her best days.

Hoping along with you that she’s got some time left.
We had a similar situation with our German shorthair, Jimi, at the end of his life. You can see in the video (taken the day we put him down), that he still had lots of life and energy, but cancer had just ravaged his body. At that point, w e weren’t willing to let him suffer any longer just because we wanted another few days with him... You’ll know when the time comes. S till hurts.

We thought it was it yesterday when she wouldn't eat, but she rallied, drank some water, and has eaten almost a full meal so far today. If she can have energy and be happy, we'll let her be. If she won't eat, we'll know

Yeah... We were lucky - we got a few weeks with Jimi, feeding him wet food and then hot dogs, etc. He got whatever he wanted. He still would eat some at the end, but the cancer was eating him faster...
Maybe lactose-free milk would help? Not sure.
